Effects of Relaxation Technique on Reducing Anxiety Level of Girls High School Students

Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to find out of the relaxation technique can reduce the general anxiety of girls' high school students who are in the youth period.
As the subjects for this study, the second graders of a humanity girls' high school, located in Buyo-up, Buyo-gun, Chungnam-do, were selected at random among the students who marked50-60 point in the Spielberger's state anxiety level. The total
subjects
were 51,who consisted of 25 students as an experimental group and 26 students as a control group. This study was carried out for six weeks from 4th, July to 9th August in 1991.
For Measuring tools, Spielberger's inventory of state-trait anxiety was unitlized, and blood pressure, pulse rate were measured to check out the degree of anxiety and the relaxation technique which Jong-Suk Park and jin-Hyang YANG had used was
modified
and made use of.
Finally, the collected data were analyzed by the statistical method of X2-test, t-test by SPSSX.
@ES The result of this study are as follow:
@ES Before relaxation technique was put into operation, any different between experimental group and control group were not found in testing the degree of mental and physical anxiety.
The first hypothesis. 'The students relaxation technique is operated on will mark lower degrees in the state anxiety than those not operated on' is verified.(t=6.58, P<.001).
The second hypothesis, 'The students relaxation technique is operated on will mark lower degrees in the trait anxity than those not operated on' is verified. (t=2.28, P<.05).
the third hypothesis, 'The blood pressure of the students relaxation technique is operated in will be lower than those of the students not operated on' is verified. (systolic pressure; t=5.57, P<.001, diastolic pressure; t=6.48, P<.001).
The forth hypothesis, 'The pulse rates of the students relaxation technique I operated on will be lower than those of the students not operated on' is verified.(t=3. 51, P<.005).
Consequently, this study shows that relaxation technique can reduce the anxiety of girls' high school students.
As the students in the youth period are in the most critical periods their lifetime, when they are growing and developing mentally and physically, it is recommendable that relaxation technique with the effective health-care and the way to control
anxiety should be operation.
And also after such on operation it is considerated that they can achieve their goals to liver happily in good physical health.
